Nia Long is in talks to star opposite Jude Law in Alfie, Paramount Pictures' remake of the 1966 romantic comedy, for director Charles Shyer. She has also closed a deal to join the cast of NBC's Third Watch.
In the new version of Alfie, written by Shyer and Elaine Pope, Law will star as a womanizer forced to rethink his superficial existence. Long will portray Lonette, a beautiful waitress who has just dumped Alfie's best friend, Marlon. The project begins shooting in September.
On "Watch," Long will star as Sasha Monroe, a role she originated in an April episode as a guest star. Long's Monroe is a struggling cop who switches to the night shift in order to help her 16-year-old sister take care of her newborn while the sister goes to school during the day.
